PRINCIPAL'S GREETING

The entire staff of Father Leonard Van Tighem extend a warm welcome to all of our families, both new and returning. We are happy that you have chosen to be part of our wonderful school community. Our school mission statement ' Many Hands Building A Better World,' along with our Van Tighem Virtues, helps us to build a Christ-centered learning environment while permeating our Catholic faith.  We look forward to working in partnership with our entire school community and St. Martha Parish, to provide the very best in Catholic education.

A little about me:

I grew up in Lethbridge and attended Holy Spirit Catholic schools’, as a student, before graduating in 1989 from Catholic Central High School. I attended both the Lethbridge College as well as the University of Lethbridge where I received a diploma, two degrees and in 2015 received a Masters of Education.  This year marks my 27th year as an educator and I must say, I am as excited to walk alongside my colleagues as much now as I did back in 1996, when I first entered the profession. Prior to coming to FLVT, I was the principal of The Children of St. Martha Elementary School. Throughout my time as an educator, I had the pleasure of working in rural as well as city schools and have enjoyed so many wonderful experiences teaching all grade levels, from kindergarten to grade twelve.

I received my sacraments, from baptism to marriage, at St. Basil’s Parish on the north side of Lethbridge.  I have been married for 27 years to my husband, Clint Collier, who is the Superintendent of Picture Butte Golf Club. We have two adult children, Brady (25) and Kyra (21). Both of our children attended FLVT, from Kindergarten to grade 9, and still fondly speak of their great elementary and junior high experiences. Currently, our family are members of St. Martha Parish.

It is my pleasure to be serving as Principal of Father Leonard Van Tighem this school year.  I am thrilled to join the wonderful staff and am looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you!

May God watch over and guide us as we work together to provide motivating, nurturing and successful learning opportunities for the students at FLVT this upcoming school year.

blessings,
Mrs. Shannon Collier
